Kalamandira, founded over eighty years ago, is the first art institute in Karnataka. It offers a full-time, five-year diploma course in drawing and painting for students who have completed Std 10. It also has a two-year diploma course for teachers of drawing. It conducts art classes for children and adults, and organises lecture-demonstrations, slide shows, and exhibitions.
