Details of Work

TAPD grew out of a 'community change' programme initiated by St. Mark's Cathedral to help the Tilaknagar slum dwellers. They run an Early Childhood Care programme for children between 2 1/2 - 5 years. This is a classroom based programme that facilitates the all-round development of children. TAPD runs two such centres in Bangalore and reaches out to 59 children. Children are provided nutritional supplements and their health is monitored with annual health check ups . When the children reach school going age, the teachers help them secure admission in local schools. TAPD has also initiated a vocational training programme for adolescents.
