children with learning disability
Ms Vathsala Jayasimha is an early-years educator and resource person for learning disability. She has two decades of experience in the field of education working with young children at various levels. Her area of interest has been the use of a multisensory approach to help the child develop physically, cognitively, socially and emotionally. She has published papers on early-years education. She runs a Montessori integrated school, Around The Child, for children between 2 1/2 - 5 years. The school functions as a remedial centre for children with developmental disabilities like autism, Down's Syndrome and dyslexia in the afternoons. The teachers focus on educational difficulties of the child on a one-to-one basis. They also work towards integrating these children into larger groups so that they are not isolated from people of their age.
