Details of Work

KWAB works with over 200 visually impaired persons in Bangalore, and with visually and hearing impaired persons through its centres in Mandya, Nagamangala and Devanahalli. It identifies and assesses children with disability, and has a 3-6 month preparatory programme for visually impaired children between 5-8 years; after which they are placed in integrated schools. It has support services for these children with the help of trained teachers. It conducts sports and cultural activities, and offers cash prizes for children who excel in the Std 7 and Std 10 exams. It has hostel facilities at its three state centres. It also organises medical check-ups in rural areas and mobilises funds to provide treatment.
