Details of Work

NAB-KB has an integrated education (IED) programme for visually impaired children in 60 urban and rural schools. It trains children between 3-4 years in basic Braille, social and mobility skills, and sends them to schools which offer integrated education up to Std 10. It provides uniforms, textbooks, Braille sheets, educational material, low vision aids, readers' fees and scribes. It trains resource teachers in integrated schools, and creates awareness among parents and teachers about IED. It has community-based rehabilitation programmes in 27 talukas of Bangalore district. It offers a one-year rehabilitation programme for adolescent boys, and plans to set up a computer centre.
