Ms Vijaya Varadarajan is a developmental Montessori therapist for children with disability. She initiated an Indo-German project in 1986 in Hyderabad on 'Early diagnosis, therapy and social integration of young infants and children', and did pioneering work in this area. She has conducted training programmes and workshops in Montessori therapy and social integration, and is the author of 'Montessori Medical Pedagogy: A Hand Book'. She works with children with multiple disability to provide assessment, individual and group therapy, and parental counselling and training. She runs the Vijay Kiran Developmental Centre*, an integrated education programme for children between 2 1/2-8 years. She has remedial sessions for children with learning, emotional or behavioural problems in the evenings. She is available as a resource person to conduct seminars or workshops for parents and special educators in applying Montessori methods to teaching children with special needs.
