CIEE-K aims to facilitate the involvement of all people on the issue of elementary education. It has set up citizen's groups in six districts of Karnataka to provide an opportunity for citizen's groups in six districts of Karnataka to provide an opportunity for citizens to have a say in the quality of education their children are receiving. It plans to achieve its objectives through four initiatives. The Study Circle collects information on elementary education, and helps in ongoing programmes with teachers and students. The School Appraisal and Action Group works with schools and local communities to ensure greater accountability, including instituting forums in schools, and liasing with local education authorities to bring about change. The Child Development Centre is a contact centre where children regardless of their backgrounds come together and participate in activities. It conducts supplementary education and skill development classes, physical activities, and summer camps. The Enrolment Team is responsible for increasing the volunteer base, and spreading awareness through media campaigns. CIEE-K lobbies at the district, state and national level for policy changes in the elementary education system.
