Sutradhar is an educational media resource centre that documents and promotes creative learning resources. It has run a shop disseminating educational and folk toys, children's literature, and books on education; collated from educators nationwide. Sutradhar designs materials to fill in the gaps; such as toys for children with special needs, games with an Indian focus, and math materials. It has developed an Early Learning Kit for state-run preschools; and initiated an advocacy network, FORCES, aimed at realising the rights of the young, underprivileged child. For FORCES, it has coordinated a study on the functioning of anganwadis in Bangalore; and a status report on the young child in Karnataka. Sutradhar has also published various books on early childhood education and initiatives in government schooling. The Sutradhar 'Open Forum' is a public seminar series for parents and educators, to discuss current issues in education. Sutradhar has organised many workshops for teachers on creative ways of teaching.
