Details of Work

Jawahar Bal Bhavan holds summer camps every year for children between 5-16 years. Activities include painting, craft, music, dance, theatre, karate, aeromodelling, photography, embroidery and doll making. The camps are held at 35 centres across the city, including creative activities for children with disability at the Association for the Mentally Handicapped*. It has a regular talent programme, Chequers, on the second Saturday of every month, and organises nature camps through the year, including rock climbing, trekking, bird watching and cave exploration. It has free film shows, magic shows and cultural programmes at its centre in Cubbon Park, and also provides its bus for schools to bring children to visit the Bal Bhavan playground. It has a special park for children below three years, and runs a children's' library* and a mobile library. It has centres in 11 districts and two talukas of Karnataka.
