Spandana is a theatre group that undertakes research in folk theatre, and tries to weave it into contemporary theatre. Its focus is on developing the child s personality through theatre and arts education. Spandana is part of a network of organisations working in theatre. It selects one school every year and conducts theatre workshops with the children. Children are taught all aspects of theatre production including scripting, costumes, make-up and lighting. It also has a theatre troupe that performs plays for children. It has conducted theatre workshops for slum children in conjunction with an NGO, and plans to work with children of prisoners.
