Ms Vatsala Vedantam is a journalist and an educator. She has been writing on issues related to education, health, environment, women and children, for over 20 years. She was awarded a British High Commission grant in 1996, to study the National Health Service and other educational programmes in Britain. She received the first Commonwealth Media Award for 'Excellence in Journalism' in 1995. She has participated in regional and national level workshops on issues related to children, including education, health, the girl, and the rights of the child.
