Details of Work

CWC has an urban programme in Bangalore and in Kundapur, Karnataka, for girl street children and children employed in the agarbathi and hotel industry. In Bangalore it has 24 centres in two slums reaching over 800 children. It has a rural programme for working children in 80 villages across four districts of Karnataka. It researches, documents and disseminates information through its Centre for Applied Research and Documentation (CARD). It facilitates links between working children and helps them set up their own sanghas. It conducts workshops to build awareness on the issue of child labour for NGOs, teachers, and panchayat members. It also holds personality development workshops for working children. It lobbies for policies and legislation in favour of working children, and networks at local state, national and international levels.
