Archana Mehendale is a trained social worker with a doctorate in child labour and child rights from the National Law School of India University. As an independent researcher in the field of child rights she undertakes theoretical and action-oriented studies in law and policy dimensions of education, child labour and problems of the girl child. She is also interested in building literature in the area of child rights and strengthening the available information, education and documentation in this area. At present she consults with various organizations working with children and also undertakes independent studies on child rights issues. She has worked with the Centre for Child and the Law, Bangalore; Tata Institute of Social Sciences and the College of Social Work, Mumbai.
