Dr R Padmini is a sociologist with a keen interest in issues related to women and children. She has worked in social development with UNICEF for several years on a range of public and social issues. Her work has included research, programme planning, monitoring, evaluation and advocacy for disadvantaged children, women, and their families, in various parts of the world. She works in conjunction with voluntary agencies on child rights. She has worked on developing a training manual and conducting workshops on child development in slum and tribal areas; on child labour, as part of the Campaign Against Child Labour*; and in education. She is involved in a project with Bangalore Children's Hospital and Research Centre* on stimulation and nutrition for young children. She is a consultant to UNICEF on development and child-related issues.
