Details of Work

Bangalore Cheshire Home cares for 55 girls and women with polio and other physical disabilities. It provides medical treatment, physiotherapy, education, and vocational training. It has a craft centre for children who cannot go to school and a computer centre for all the children. It encourages and helps residents find jobs, after which they can return to their families as independent earning members or continue to live at the centre. It takes in temporary residents from villages around Bangalore when children return to their homes for the holidays. These residents are given physiotherapy and fitted with calipers as required. It also has a rehabilitation and vocational training centre for adolescents and adults with physical disability, and an old age home for women.
