Details of Work

The Department of Labour assists NGOs to identify and release working children by enforcing the law. It has received a grant from UNICEF to rehabilitate 300 working children in Magadi and set up schools for them. With the support of UNICEF, it holds awareness programmes for its inspectors and for gram panchayats, to sensitise them to issues related to child labour. It works in conjunction with other government departments to rehabilitate working children.
