Maya Muddaiya has a diploma in special education from the University of Bombay. She works as a consultant in special education. She has trained teachers at the Kaveri School in Indiranagar on how to identify and cope with children with learning disabilities. Once they are identified, she runs the pull-out programme conducting remedial classes for children with learning difficulties from LKG to Std 3. She also teaches courses on special education for persons with cerebral palsy at the teachers training programme conducted by Bangalore s Spastics Society, and is one of their external examiners. At home, she trains 7-10 children from mainstream schools who have learning difficulties in spelling, reading, writing, comprehension and language. She is also trained in infant stimulation. Earlier she worked as the principal for the Centre for Special Education, Spastics Society of India, Bombay.
