Details of Work

ISH provides assessment and therapy for speech, language, hearing, and learning disorders at its centre, at urban and rural camps, and for other organisations. It has a pre-school for young hearing impaired children in English and Kannada, and a special school in Kannada up to Std 7. It conducts literacy classes so parents can participate in their children's education, and creates awareness. It offers a unique correspondence course for parents who do not have access to a speech therapist; a one-year Diploma in Special Education (Hearing Impaired); a three-year BSc in Speech and Hearing, affiliated to Bangalore University; and it also plans to start an MSc in Speech and Hearing.
