children with learning disabilities, emotional problems, visual and hearing impairment, children who do not fit into mainstream schools, children of parents on transfer, 5-12 years
Anvesh, an enterprise of the Jnanam Education Foundation, is an integrated school from nursery to Std 7. It caters to children, including those with learning disabilities, emotional problems, visual and hearing impairment, children who do not fit into mainstream schools, and children whose parents are on transfer. It has about 60 children, and it follows the ICSE syllabus. Apart from an academic curriculum, the children also have opportunities for activities such as sports, gymnastics, art, music and computers. After Std 7, children who can be mainstreamed join regular schools. Other children are referred to the Developmental Centre for Exceptional Children* (DEC), where they are assessed and taught vocational skills.
