Ms Ramakrishna is a teacher educator and resource person committed to developing caring schools and nurturing better relationships in the educational setting. She was a teacher in Mumbai for 20 years and has been a teacher educator since 2000. She holds a Master's Degree in Educational Management and Counselling from the Graduate School of Education, University of Bristol. She was awarded the ODA- a commonwealth scholarship for pursuing this course. She completed her research in the area of developing caring schools. Her thesis involved a study of a Circle Time Programme that she developed in five Mumbai schools. Ms Ramakrishna has conducted several Circle Time Workshops across the country. The term circle time denotes activities conducted in a circle by the teacher acting as a facilitator. The teacher delivers academic and affective curriculum through this process. Through her resource centre, The Fourth R, Ms Ramakrishna offers intensive training workshops for schools in group work , circle time, counselling skills and building better team-work skills amongst staff. Long-term follow up and class room support are also offered with weekly class based observations of teachers and lesson planning support, along with child observation and action research. Systems are set up with the management with the aim of developing attitudes, skills and behaviour in the management and staff, that will help create a caring school.
