Details of Work

The School was started by a group of adults committed to exploring the nature of education and its relationship to living, in a world that values achievement and success unmindful of the damage to nature and community. The teachers at CFL are guided by the ideas of J Krishnamurthi. The school runs on the outskirts of the city for about 60 children. The small size encourages a deep parent-student-teacher relationship with a sense of shared enquiry. Children are given individualised attention. The school follows a flexible and wide curriculum that is designed by the teachers. There is a focus on building awareness beyond knowledge and skills. This is fostered by close interaction with nature, and sufficient time for observation, leisure and inward enquiry. As the school does not believe in competition there is no stress on examinations. The school functions in a non-hierachical way where all teachers participate in decision-making. If offers a post-school programme for undergraduates who wish to pursue a flexible academic course, and still have the space for inward enquiry.
