Poorna encourages each child to grow to her full potential by making learning a holistic, joyful and ongoing process. It is an informal but regular school for children, and also functions as a resource centre for people interested in alternative modes of education. Teachers document their experiences and are often called upon to conduct workshops to share their experiences and insights. The school follows a vertical grouping for children of mixed age groups has a special focus on art, craft, yoga and spiritual development. The curriculum is taught through topic webs that are taken up for a whole month in an interdisciplinary way. The curriculum is flexible, and though the children have self-assessment they are not given marks. Parents are seen as resources in the education process. The school also offers scholarships to children in need.
