Details of Work

The Belaku Trust believes that good health care can only be provided by integrating socio-economic and cultural perceptions with bio-medical approaches. It works in rural Kanakapura taluka with families of infants from 0-2 years, to improve their nutrition and general health care. It plans to set up a creche for young children of working women, and to work with adolescent girls and boys to increase awareness and access to information about health-related issues. The trust is presently carrying out a study on the socio-cultural determinants of women s health in the obstetric period, as well as the nutrition and development of young children.
