Dr Vasundhara is a medical doctor with over 25 years of experience in the field of social and preventive medicine. She has been a lecturer and professor in the field, and has taught at several medical institutions. She was a consultant with the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, and was involved in training health care workers, medical and paramedical personnel, and government functionaries. She has also been involved with evaluation and research work. She was a member of the National Planning Commission's Family Planning Programme in 1991, and has been involved in various social and preventive medicine areas including nutrition, immunisation, maternal and child health, and HIV/AIDS. She has assisted in the production of educational material on HIV/AIDS, and has several publications, scientific papers and research studies to her credit.
