Details of Work

IGICH was set up by the state government and works in collaboration with WHO, UNICEF, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and the Central and State governments. It offers paediatric health care facilities including emergency and intensive care, surgery, cardiology, nephrology, neonatology, psychiatry and orthopaedics. It has outpatient, inpatient, X-ray and laboratory facilities. It runs supper-speciality clinics in paediatrics, cardiology, orthopaedics, surgery and child psychiatry, and an immunisation clinic every Thursday. It provides counselling for family planning, and offers community and child health services in partnership with voluntary agencies. It organises seminars and workshops to train medical and para-medical staff, and undertakes research on childhood diseases. It conducts free rural health camps, and is the nodal training centre for doctors and nurses at the district level under the Karnataka Health System Project.
