Details of Work

The Directorate of Health and Family Welfare is responsible for the primary health care centres in all districts of Karnataka. It has free immunisation programmes for the mother and child, including the recently conducted Pulse Polio programme. It caters to about 12 lakh pregnant mothers every year. It has an information and education programme to educate mothers in primary and family health care. It produces television progammes, posters and other communication material on health education in Karnataka, especially to reach the rural areas.
