Ms Deepa Dhanraj is a documentary film maker. She has recently directed a series of films on primary education for the DPEP*, Karnataka, that explore issues related to teaching methodology, curriculum, language and maths. She has also produced several documentary films on issues related to children. 'Time to Listen', commissioned by the International Working Group on Child Labour, is a 50 minute film that documents the first ever international meeting of representatives of working children's movements from India, Peru, Brazil, West Africa and Nepal. 'Girija' is a 25 minute film in Kannada commissioned by the Department of Women and Child Development*. It is a magical story about a brave girl who vanquishes an evil demon and saves her village from drought. 'We Speak', is a 20 minute film in Kannada that documents the experiences of street children who make a living by collecting and recycling garbage in Bangalore.
