Details of Work

Mr Shashidhara Adapa is an Art Director with a special interest in alternative communication, especially rural communication. His interests include the use of puppetry in classroom education and social communication, providing children with alternative and indigenous cultural symbols, and using low-cost materials creatively. He has held informal creative workshops with children in science and craft, and has developed low-cost material for early childhood stimulation, including a series of photo-language sets for parents and adults. He has worked on communication projects involving alternative media, including puppetry, street theatre, and poster design for rural audiences. He has also developed indigenous toys using local resources. He was the Communication Coordinator for Action on Disability and Development, India*, and conducted workshops for disabled children and their families in rural areas, to enhance their creativity and confidence. He has also worked on commercial children s films in various Indian languages.
