Ms Ammu Joseph is a freelance journalist. She has been writing on child-related issues such as child labour, children and the media, and education, for over 20 years. She has written a series of eight articles on the adolescent girl in southern India, based on discussions with young girls in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. She wrote a fortnightly column for children in the 'Young World' section of The Hindu for eight years, introducing young readers to current social and ethical issues. She has written a profile on child labour in Karnataka, partly based on five studies done by NGOs, for the state government. She has also helped conceptualise and produce NGO publications on child-related issues; as well as for children, including street and working children.
