Details of Work

The CCL is a research, training, documentation and advocacy centre designed to develop, organise, monitor and coordinate activities related to the child and the law. It works with NGOs, government and academic bodies in the area of child justice; specifically the rights of the child, juvenile justice, child labour, the girl child, universalisation of elementary education and adoption. It undertakes action research and legal research, and offers consultancy services related to legal procedures, drafting petitions and legal aid. It organises training programmes including continuing education, workshops, seminars and consultations. It has a documentation service with a specialised database and library on children's issues; and works in the area of curriculum development, including development of teaching material on the child and the law. It also networks with government organisations and NGOs, and is involved in advocacy on children's issues.
