Details of Work

Educational Initiatives (EI) is a learning assessment company set up by a group of IIM alumni with first-hand experience of setting up and running educational institutions. It offer products and services to private schools, school groups, municipal school boards and governments focussing on quality improvement and effective learning. Assessment EI is known for its diagnostic test“ ASSET (Assessment of Scholastic Skills Through Educational Testing). This is a scientifically designed, skill-based assessment developed in India for Indian schools, after a detailed study of the syllabi of different central and state boards. Rather than testing rote learning, it focuses on measuring how well SKILLS and CONCEPTS underlying the school syllabus have been learnt by the student. The test provides information on the strengths and weaknesses of individual students as well as entire classes. It focuses on English, Maths, Science, Social Studies and Hindi for students of classes 3-10. EI is also engaged in developing diagnostic tests for classes 1-5 in language, maths and EVS. Research EI has significant experience in conducting education research on a national scale on aspects related to learning. It has partnered on different occasions with Wipro Applying Thought in Schools and Google.org for conducting such research to assess learning levels of children in private and government schools across the country. Teacher Training One of EI's guiding principles is to transform the teacher into a &reflective practitioner's™ who is herself a &thinker'™ and &learners™. Different programmes are customised to help schools change their classroom practices, which in turn enhances student achievement. MINDSPARK is another unique initiative of EI. It is a computer based adaptive self-learning programme based on the premise that students learn best when they control the pace of learning.
