Orkids, The Multidisciplinary Clinic, was initiated by Ms Geet Oberoi in Delhi in 2000. Since then it has grown to 8 branches with 50 teachers and 250 children. ORKIDS Bangalore offers remedial services for children with special needs and learning disabilities including Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), communication delays and those with verbal autism. Remedial intervention at ORKIDS includes special education language therapy occupational therapy diagnostic assessment ORKIDS is also equipped to prepare children for the National Institute of Open Schooling. For board certification however, ORKIDS Bangalore refers children to NIMHANS or the Spastic Society of India. ORKIDS Bangalore also conducts training programmes and workshops for schools and teachers groups on teaching strategies and areas related to working with children with special needs. In the future, more long-term partnerships would also be established with interested schools to set up centres within the school premises. Higher Learning Similar to the ORKIDS Institute of Higher Learning at Delhi, ORKIDS Bangalore will also be initiating a PG Diploma course in 'Management of Learning Disabilities'. Though ORKIDS addresses various disabilities, the focus is to ensure that special education is offered as a service within the school environment to ensure every child's right to education. ORKIDS Bangalore was initiated in 2007 Decemberby Ms Shoba Sriram, a qualified special educator with experience of over 12 years in the field. The team comprises 3 teachers who work with 20 children presently.
