Ranga Shankara is a theatre facility with a commitment to the art of theatre, and to the cultural fabric of India and its people. Its children's theatre programme is called AHA!, representing an expression of wonder, excitement and fulfilment that has no language barriers. AHA! focuses on giving children theatre that is as professional and complex as theatre for adults, with no compromises on quality or cutting corners. It seeks to lay the foundation of a theatre movement among younger people through the production and performance of carefully chosen plays and through workshops. It has tied up with local schools to bring children for "kids only" shows. There are at least four such shows every school month since Dec 2006, watched by around 1600 kids. In addition, there are at least two shows of plays for children every month that are watched by both parents and children. Ranga Shankara also brings in donations (from individuals and corporates) to make it possible for children from under-privileged circumstances to watch these plays. Since its initiation, AHA! Has produced two plays one each in Kannada and English, apart from hosting performances by foreign and national troupes. AHA! also organises several exciting summer workshops for children.
