Details of Work

The Canara Bank Relief and Welfare Society has a home, Mathruchhaya, for neglected and destitute children. It is involved in domestic and international adoption of children, including children with special needs. It offers group and individual foster care, especially for older children who cannot be adopted. It provides sponsorships for economically disadvantaged children from nearby slums. It has a non-formal education centre for tribal children near Mekedattu. It has a Braille transcription centre which transcribes books for visually impaired children. It is also interested in initiating a programme to bring sighted and visually impaired children together to learn from one another. It offers its space for the outreach programme of the Spastics Society of Karnataka*.
